While assisting with issues of assessment, this instrument is not a definitive statement for assessment. Rather it provides guidelines to stimulate reflection and examination about restorative justice processes and procedures within organizations. It does so by listing key restorative justice principles. Under each principle are various incomplete sentences or questions, each followed by four phrases that can complete or answer the sentence or question. People assess their organization by identifying which of the four options best describes the organization in relation to the incomplete sentences or questions under the key principles. This instrument was designed by several people active in justice issues in California.
