The Neighbourhood Justice Centre Community Liaison Committee (CLC) is interested in restorative justice and will host a public forum on the topic on 21 March 2007. As community engagement is a vital element of the NJC, the CLC’s interest in restorative justice will assist in exploring its meaning for the centre and the community.
This paper provides background material for the forum to inform debate and develop a common understanding of restorative justice concepts among participants. It has been prepared following a literature review of Australian and international publications on restorative justice and consultation with the CLC, NJC Steering Committee and Department of Justice staff.
