RJ has been asked to prove itself on an ongoing
basis through academic and scientific validation.
Satisfaction with the RJ process is perceived as
high among the victims who take part, especially
amongst those harmed by serious crime. With
regards to sex crimes and re-offending, surely a
more holistic approach, one that acknowledges
the degree and spread of harm while engaging
those affected in rebuilding their future, would
be better than a society of silent victims. Crime is
a complex issue and a more creative approach
to tackling crime might ultimately contribute to
wider community well-being. (excerpt)
