This handbook consists of a training curriculum in restorative and community justice. Employing an experiential learning format, the curriculum enables participants to explore restorative justice values and practices. The curriculum also assists participants in strategies for fostering restorative justice perspectives and capacities in criminal justice systems and in communities. Following an introduction and overview, the curriculum covers these main topics: core principles and values of restorative justice; the impact of crime on victims; restorative practices; building community resource capacity; people, organizations, and change; and strategic action planning. Each section includes training and learning objectives, diagrams, significant ideas and facts, learning exercises, and tools for applying the training. The last section includes a list of bibliographic and other resources.
