The authors examine events and scientific research dealing with issues of forgiveness. Recounting various incidents, the article highlights religious and emotional aspects of forgiveness. The article also surveys the rise in scientific research into forgiveness. Attempting to determine quantifiable elements, scientists are investigating the psychological and physiological effects of the act of forgiveness on the one who forgives. The authors also make connections between forgiveness and restorative justice.
