The eleventh United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice took place from the 18th to the 25th of April 2005 in Bangkok, Thailand. Its core theme was ‘synergies and responses: strategic alliances in crime prevention and criminal justice,’ offering a frame for the adoption of the UN Declaration with the same title, referred to as the Bangkok Declaration. Agenda items were transnational organized crime, standard-setting in crime prevention and criminal justice, international law enforcement cooperation, and criminal justice reform, including restorative justice.
