This issue of the Peace Office Newsletter of the Mennonite Central Committee focuses on the African Peacebuilding Institute. As indicated in the introduction to the issue, much of the media’s presentation of Africa reflects only bad news: famine, conflict, genocide. There is, however, more going on in Africa, and the work of the African Peacebuilding Institute is part of the good news in Africa. The work of the Institute involves African efforts to address African issues with African values and practices. Based out of the Mindolo Ecumenical Foundation in Kitwe, Zambia, the Institute consists of an intensive course in peace and conflict studies. In this issue of the Peace Office Newsletter are several articles by various authors about the work of the Institute and about peacebuilding in Africa.
