The Southampton City Council Assessment Service is an intervention tool to help people manage and resolve conflict through mediation outside of formal statutory and criminal justice systems. It thereby helps to reduce crime and to promote community strengths. Through discussion and charts, Steve Smith, a housing manager in Southampton, explains what the Service provides, the mediation structure and process, the mediation assessment process, and outcomes from mediation.
