Felicity Bond, a court-referred restorative justice facilitator, believes that preparation is the “most critical component of a successful conference.â€? She emphasizes the need for pre-conference meetings because surprises at conferences often occur. Focus on the victim should remain the first priority throughout the conference while also allowing the offender to explain his or her side of the story. Also, facilitators should ensure that the offender goes through with the decided outcome after the conference is finished.
