Drug treatment courts are court-based treatment programs. Their aim is to supervise the rehabilitation of drug dependent offenders. Specifically, such courts integrate drug treatment services with justice system case-processing. This article presents a brief history of drug treatment courts, key components of their programs, and a specific description of the Toronto Drug Treatment Court. This last part of the article looks concretely at the Toronto program’s process, treatment services, personnel structure, community involvement, police role, and outcomes
