Everyone working in restorative justice in the UK will be pleased to hear of the level of government interest in RJ shown by the decision to fund substantial research into its effectiveness. The Home Office is concerned to find out more about the potential for RJ both in reducing reoffending, especially for serious adult offenders, and in giving victims a greater sense of satisfaction with the way crimes against them are dealt with.

One of the research teams funded under this initiative is the Justice Research Consortium (JRC). (excerpt)
