Ann Estis is connected with the Justice ‘n Rights Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and is also regional leader of the November Coalition. The November Coalition advocates for changes in criminal justice responses to drug law violations. In this article she writes about restorative justice as manifested in sentencing circles. She highlights a Community Peacekeeping–Sentencing Circle group in Saint Paul that deals particularly with drug cases. It involves judges, prosecuting attorneys, parole and probation officers, social workers, and more. Estis points to the training that led to the circle and the nature of the sentencing circle process.
