Youth strategic priority: The prevention of youth crime and victimization

The involvement of youth in crime in Canada- as offenders and victims- is significant. Therefore, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have identified youth as one of their priorities, with an emphasis on prevention of crime and victimization. The RCMP strategy focuses efforts on early prevention, enforcement, and restorative justice. Indeed, the RCMP believe that a restorative justice approach to youth crime and victimization – to reduce and repair the harm – is one of the keys to their youth strategy.
